| Yesterday, my friend sent me a message saying that he got his hands on FEAR, so this morning I gave him a visit. I only had a little bit of time so I only played for about 20 minutes. I did play offline and online though. Single player mode is exactly like its PC version although I thought that textures were off. The controls were a bit “ehh” but it’s the same story with fps’s on consoles – it is just not the same experience. Other than that the game was fun. Multiplayer was good but I didn’t like a couple of things. First, from the game lobby you can choose only one weapon. Once the game starts you are stuck with that weapon. Why can’t you just change the weapon in-game? Works good for Call of Duty, doesn’t it? Secondly, you can’t chat while you wait for others to join? What’s up with that?
My full review of FEAR will be posted next week. Have a good weekend! And see you all next week. |
First Impressions – F.E.A.R. [PS3]
April 27, 2007Rock Band pricing revealed on gamestop.com
April 27, 2007![]() |
| After seeing the very cool Playstation Eye on ps3fanboy.com, I decided to check out GameStop’s online site to see if there is a release date on it. Although I didn’t find the release date (or a camera for that matter), I did find the GameStop’s pricing for the upcoming Rock Band game which I am personally looking forward too. Anyway, it looks like the drum set is the most expensive item for that game, but at least the mic is 40 bucks right, right? I just hope that these prices don’t grow as the game comes closer to its release. We will see soon! |
FEAR for PS3 out in stores…or not
April 26, 2007|
|
| PS3’s game library has been updated today with the long awaited release of FEAR. I did not have a chance to get it yet since it is sold out in all stores. I am going to try the last place I haven’t looked – BestBuy. I will keep my fingers crossed. |
PS One games on a PS3. A reflection in the water?
April 21, 2007![]() |
| So yesterday PS3’s firmware was updated to version 1.70. Here are the details:[1] You can now download original PS One titles from the PSN and play them directly on your PS3. [2] You can also transfer the save game files from the PS3 to the PSP so you can continue playing on the go. [3]Lastly Sony has granted us the ability to play PS One and PS2 games with force-feedback functionality. Now don’t get me wrong, playing original PS One games on the PS3 is awesome, but what would be more awesome if we can actually do it. That’s right, even though this feature is now available for our use, Sony didn’t give us any games to play. I mean come on! We can handle “Calling All Cars!” being pushed back to yet another release date, we can even handle the inability to listen to music while we are chatting with friends, but this is just stupid. You give a PS3 user the ability to play PS One games, but you don’t give us any games to play. It is just like giving a boy a bicycle without wheels. A cruel joke I say! One game, just one good game and people wouldn’t mind waiting until sometime in May to play. At least you don’t have to repurchase games you have already downloaded. On a different note I am glad that the vibration is back! At least Sony did something right with this update. So for now we will have to enjoy Crash Bandicoot on our PSP until later on in May. Sigh. |
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion review [PS3]
April 19, 2007|
This review is going to be short and sweet. Go get the game! Nah I’m just kidding, but seriously this game is freaking awesome. If you were one of the lucky people to enjoy Diablo when it first came out this is the game for you, only it’s 3D and has amazing graphics. When you start the game you have to go through a tutorial in a dungeon, but the developers make it so it doesn’t feel like one of those “go there” and “do that” tutorials we all hate so much. When for the first time you come outside from the dark, constricted dungeon you are greeted by the massive world of Oblivion. It is overwhelming at first, but if you are a hardcore gamer (and since this is a PS3 game that means you are) you’ll get used to it rather quickly. I don’t want to ruin the game for you, so all I am going to say is that the abundance of quests and adventures in the game is great. Of course there are a few bugs, and glitches in some parts of the game it is what expected from a massive world like this. You can call Oblivion for the Playstaion 3 a “golden edition” since it come with the expansion Nights of the Nine. This is good for us sony lovers since the you have to pay extra for the Xbox 360 version. Another advantage this game has over the Xbox 360 is the loading screens-it’s much faster. I am not going to tell you how amazing the graphics are unlike some other websites. I am going to let the screenshots speak for themselves. If you are a fan of Blizzard’s Diablo or just enjoy killing skeletons and other mythical creatures, this is the game for you. Yeah I know the price tag is hefty, but this one is actually worth it. You can clearly see that developers put a lot of work into this game. Come on give it a try…I know you want to. Score: 9.2/10 |
And it begins…
April 19, 2007Hello and welcome to Tech and Game reviews by Big M Productions. In this blog you will find reviews of games and gadgets that I buy myself. If only I had a sponsor(wink wink). Anyway, today I will be reviewing a game I purchased recently for the Sony’s black box.
